Peter Cobb has been the Vice President for Finance & Administration at ICTJ since April 2007. In 2005-2006 he was the president and CEO of The Legal Aid Society in New York City during a period of significant financial and managerial regeneration. He graduated in 1979 from Columbia Law School where he was on the Law Review, a Kent Scholar, and the winner of the John Ordronaux prize for academic achievement. He spent many years as a tax lawyer with the New York-based law firm of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson and was the managing partner of that firm from 1995 until 2003. In 1991 he moved to Washington DC to work on the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation of the United States Congress, serving as Deputy Chief of Staff and acting Chief of Staff before returning to New York and Fried Frank in 1994. He has a BA (Phi Beta Kappa) from Pomona College and a PhD in Mathematics from the City University of New York. He taught mathematics at Brooklyn College and Fordham University from 1970 till 1976.
