Marina Caparini, a Canadian national, specializes in justice and security sector governance, in particular the democratic oversight and accountability of security institutions, and democratic transitions in post-conflict and post-authoritarian states. She has published extensively on these subjects and has provided analysis and regulatory advice to a wide array of actors internationally. Her recent work has addressed the role of non-state actors, including civil society groups and private military and security companies. She is currently working on the development of a justice-sensitive approach to SSR. She holds a BA (Hon) degree in Political Science, a Master’s in International Relations (Calgary), and is completing a DPhil in War Studies (King’s College London).
