Carol Skyrm has more than 20 years of experience as a professional fundraiser. Prior to joining the ICTJ, she served as director of development for the Population Council from 1994 to 2001. She has worked in international organizations since 1981: at the American University in Cairo and International House, New York, as a fundraiser; and in communications at the United Nations Department of Public Information and Interlink Press Service, an affiliate of Inter Press Service. She has degrees from Western Washington State University, the Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne), and from the Graduate School of Communications at the University of Washington.
