Affinity Groups

Affinity groups are small working groups that meet for reciprocal exchange and collaboration on specific transitional justice themes. Affinity groups are supported by the Canadian International Development Agency.

The Managing Truth Commissions (MTC) Affinity Group promotes the exchange of ideas among senior managers of truth commissions.

The Documents and Confronting the Past Affinity Group focuses on documents, archives, and strategies for dealing with the legacies of past atrocities.

The West African NGO network for Transitional Justice (WANT Justice) focuses on the rapidly changing transitional justice landscape in West Africa.

The Prosecutions Network brings together experienced prosecutors and members of NGOs and other institutions that support domestic and international prosecutions to discuss effective strategies.

The Gender Network examines the wide range of cross-cutting challenges that women face in the transitional justice process.

The ICTJ also collaborates with the International Transitional Justice Research Network. This network builds research capacity and strengthens international communication and collaboration among academics and human rights organizations who are conducting empirical studies on the impacts of transitional justice mechanisms on societies
