We welcome applications from students and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines. Advanced proficiency or fluency in spoken and written French is a prerequisite for consideration. About Semester Placements Full-time internships are regularly available with the ICTJ in New York. Interns contribute significantly and substantively to the development of ICTJ projects worldwide. The Internship Program is intended to provide students with a professional experience that demonstrates the nature of substantive work within the organization, and applies in some way the theories and concepts of transitional justice (and its attendant disciplines) already developed in students’ formal coursework. Interns have a demonstrable impact on our intellectual legacy and are therefore welcomed into projects, events and networks critical to the sector. Many interns have gone on to become key allies of ICTJ program work, whether in the field, academia or partner institutions. We welcome applications from persons from a wide range of disciplines, including both undergraduate and graduate students. All interns must have advanced proficiency in English. Persons who also have strong writing and speaking abilities in other languages are particularly encouraged to apply. Prosecutions InternThe ICTJ Prosecutions Program is seeking a full-time intern. All applicants must either possess, or be close to completing, a law degree. The ICTJ is a human rights organization that provides assistance and information to countries in transition struggling to confront a period of past abuse. Current projects of the ICTJ Prosecutions Program include work with regional domestic prosecutions (especially in Latin America), hybrid and international tribunals, and research addressing the impact of the International Criminal Court on judicial accountability. The ICTJ is a human rights organization that provides assistance and information to countries in transition struggling to confront a period of past abuse. Tasked with producing the most innovative work in the field, the ICTJ Research Unit addresses important gaps in scholarship and provides comparative analysis of transitional justice measures and the difficult contexts in which they take place to ICTJ staff and to practitioners worldwide. The current projects include research on exploring links between transitional justice and the following topic areas: Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR), Identity Politics, and Development. Interns will support the research and conduct of these projects. A small portion of an intern's time may be required for administrative support. Open immediately.
