Joanna Rice

Joanna Rice is ICTJ's representative in The Gambia. In this role, she leads ICTJ’s programs in the country, working closely with state and civil society actors. Joanna particularly focuses on efforts to include women and youth fully in The Gambia’s transitional justice process. Joanna has worked as a technical expert on truth commissions and other transitional justice mechanisms in Cote d’Ivoire, Canada, and Nepal, and with indigenous peoples around the world. 

Joanna holds a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Toronto and a MA in Political Science from the New School. She is currently completing her dissertation as a doctoral candidate at the University of Toronto, where she is concentrating on transitional justice, as it relates economic and social justice.
