Juan Carlos is a political analyst in ICTJ’s Colombia Office. He works to advance the “struggle of memory against forgetting.” Before working with ICTJ on the implementation of participation and negotiation strategies, he worked as activist in the fields of forced migration and asylum policy, including for organizations such as the Spanish Commission for Refugees (CEAR) and the Catalan Green Party (ICV). He returned to Colombia in 2014 during the peace negotiations in Havana and participated in the discussion of Point 5 of the Peace Agreement. He also worked for the International Organization of Migration, Colombia’s National Center for Historical Memory, and the Colombian government’s Victims’ Unit. Juan Carlos is an animalist and environmental activist.
