Michelle supports ICTJ’s programmatic work on accountability for serious violations of human rights in Colombia. She is a Colombian lawyer, passionate about human rights, criminology, transitional justice, and gender issues. Before joining ICTJ in 2016, Michelle gained experience in research and advocacy at the Prisons Legal Clinic, the Center for Socio-Judicial Research, and the Gender Violence Research Initiative at Universidad de Los Andes. In 2017, she was appointed adviser to Juan Mendez, a member of the Selection Committee for Colombia’s Comprehensive System for Truth, Justice, Reparations and Non-Recurrence. In 2010, Michelle won a scholarship from the Hanban Confucius Institute to study Mandarin at Nankai University in China.
