Willem Cleven is responsible for establishing and maintaining relations with ICTJ’s current and prospective government donors. Before joining ICTJ in 2015, Willem worked for the French humanitarian organization ACTED (Agence d'Aide à la Coopération Technique Et au Développement), coordinating needs assessments in Iraq (2014) and Ukraine (2015) commissioned by OCHA, UNHCR and UNDP, as well as serving as the organization’s focal point for donor relations in the United States. Prior to this, Willem helped develop and implement the legal aid program at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. He has also worked as a research assistant at the Hague Center for Strategic Studies, an international security and development think-tank in The Netherlands. Willem holds an M.A. in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College in London as well as a degree in history from Utrecht University.
