Job Description

Working under the Director of Finance, the Part-Time Finance Analyst will assist ICTJ’s finance team with the management of awards from the proposal stage to the closing of the project, including the monitoring of grant activity and financial reporting to management staff and donors. This position is based in ICTJ's New York City office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

·       Assist in preparation of proposal budgets and institutional budgets; performing research to cost out activities in various global contexts

·       Review and enter in accounting system country office monthly expense reports

·       Assist in monitoring grant activity for a portfolio of awards; maintaining and assuring accuracy/completion of supporting documentation to substantiate all grant activity

·       Assist in budget-to-actual preparation and cash flow analysis

·       Assist in drafting financial reports to donors for a portfolio of grants

·       Assist in reviewing the general ledger to ensure the accurate entry of revenue, receivables, foreign exchange adjustments, and expenses per fund, cross-refencing donor-approved grant budgets and institutional budgets

·       Assist with entry and reclassification of expenses in the accounting system

·       Assist in ad-hoc financial analysis

·       Communicating with country office finance staff to address financial matters such as budgeting, fund and activity coding, fixed cost allocations, etc.

·       Assist with donor and institutional audit preparations related to grant monitoring

·       Performing related duties as assigned

Qualifications

·       Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance

·       Proficiency in MS Excel (Excel will be used to perform each of the above activities)

·       Experience with fund accounting is beneficial but not a requirement; experience with accounting software and general ledger analysis is a plus (ICTJ uses Abila MIP Fund Accounting)

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       Financial analytical skills are highly preferred

·       Must be detail-oriented and methodical
