Part-Time Information Technologist - New York Office

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Under the guidance, coordination and supervision of the Director of Finance:

  • Provide technical assistance, guidance on the overall information technology strategy.
  • Provide System Administration for Servers, desktops and laptops of the organization using Windows and Macintosh programs.
  • Provide System Administration with Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange servers.
  • Prepare guidance notes, protocols and instructions to ICTJ staff as needed.
  • Design solutions to optimize technology opportunities and keep updated the systems of the organization.
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems. Design cost-efficient strategies for knowledge-management, information sharing and data management and protection.
  • Ensure compliance with Data protection policy and efficient encryption, Antivirus, Backups, Spam filter, firewall and other security systems. Assist in the testing patches, fixes, and upgrades as needed.
  • Cover all aspects of systems setup and repair.
  • Log issues and user requests into the issue tracking system.
  • Keep contact and interact with vendors, contractors, other agencies, and other business-related outside parties to resolve specific technology related issues.

  • Start date: Immediate
  • Hours: 15 hours per week
  • Status: Part-time, Non-exempt
  • Salary commensurate with experience
  • Position based: New York City

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or another related field. 
  • Minimum of three years experience providing support to local and remote staff in an international organization or business.
  • Experience installing/upgrading programs and systems. 
  • Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange servers. 
  • Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems. 
  • Experience maintaining corporate data protection and working with a tracking system.

  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure with a broad range of people and as part of a team, take initiative, and follow guidelines
  • Excellent customer service skills and good documentation skills.
  • Enterprising and proactive; passionate about technology with an interest in maintaining knowledge of new technologies, programs, software etc.
  • Knowledge of website programing, Word Press, Drupal, Database etc., will be a strong asset
  • Knowledge of Spanish, Arabic or French will be an asset.
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills
