PROGRAM COORDINATOR

ICTJ is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Program Coordinator for its Sudan Program. The Program Coordinator will be based in Sudan. This position is a consultant position for six months with the possibility of extension. The consultant will work closely with staff in ICTJ Headquarters and other ICTJ offices on all matters related to the implementation and operation of the program.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of ICTJ’s Director of Programs and ICTJ’s Senior Experts working on Sudan and in coordination ICTJ staff in Headquarters, the Program Coordinator will:

  • Oversee the implementation of ICTJ’s work plan for Sudan.
  • Provide input to ICTJ’s experts on transitional justice-related developments affecting Sudan, including frequent updates and analysis.
  • Liaise regularly with key Sudanese stakeholders on transitional justice, including government, civil society, and international actors. Coordinate to the fullest extent possible with ICTJ partners.
  • Identify and recommend new potential ICTJ partners, particularly from the country’s peripheries.
  • Send regular reports to the ICTJ Program Director covering both substantive and administrative matters.
  • Help organize activities, meetings and other projects involving ICTJ’s experts and Sudanese stakeholders.
  • Help develop and maintain ICTJ virtual platform for knowledge sharing and discussion among Sudanese civil society actors. This includes monitoring discussions to ensure participants adhere to the rules and policies of the platform.
  • Working with ICTJ’s Communications staff in publicizing ICTJ’s Sudan-relevant insights, publications, other media products and overall work.
  • Coordinate with colleagues in ICTJ’s Program Office, Finance, Development and Human Resources units to fulfill various institutional initiatives and grant obligations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in political science, sociology, history, journalism, communications, international relations, law, development or other field relevant to human rights and/or anti-corruption advocacy and policymaking. A master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Two or more years of experience in human rights, anti-corruption or justice-related work or advocacy, preferably in Sudan, whether in government institutions, inter-governmental or non-government organizations. Familiarity with the field of transitional justice and/or the European regional human rights context will be an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with rigorous attention to detail in a multi-task, fast-paced and politically sensitive environment.
  • Research, interviewing and writing skills that can contribute to ICTJ’s knowledge of the Sudan context and to publications, social media and other communications content ICTJ can produce for its Sudan Program.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
  • Work authorization in Sudan.
