Building on the work and discussion the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) had in Tataouine, Tunisia, in December 2019, with local civil society activists and victims groups on memorialization and symbolic reparations, the ICTJ is holding a virtual workshop on “Addressing Tataouine's Legacy of Human Rights Abuses and Marginalization Through Transformative Strategies.”

This workshop comes as part of a workshop series focusing on Tataouine as a Transitional Justice Region Model which will allow participants to discuss the TDC's Final Report findings on reparation and marginalization in Tataouine in addition to community’s priorities pertaining to promoting accountability for corruption and institutional reforms through an innovative and practical approach seeking to implement transformative strategies to address dictatorship-related human rights abuses and economic grievances.

The workshop will be live streamed on ICTJ’s Facebook page on Friday June 25th, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 04:30 PM, Tunisia Time (9:00 AM to 11:30 AM ET). The livestream will be in English and Arabic, and audience members are encouraged to ask their questions in the Facebook chat attached to the video stream.
