ICTJ Colombia is having a webinar to launch the book “Orders of Prejudice: Systematic Crimes Committed against LGBT People in the Colombian Armed Conflict,” organized in partnership with Colombia Diversa.

The results of the work done by the Peace and Armed Conflict team within Colombia Diversa demonstrate that the gross human rights violations committed against LGBT victims during the Colombian armed conflict –interpreted as prejudice-based violence due to gender identity or sexual orientation– constitute the crime against humanity of persecution (as described in the Rome Statute, under article 7.1.H.). This finding is the cornerstone of their book, “Orders of Prejudice: Systematic Crimes Committed against LGBT People in the Colombian Armed Conflict.” Daniela Díaz Villamil, author of the book, will open with a brief presentation of the main arguments of the book. Afterwards, the panelists, incldiding ICTJ Expert Kelli Muddell, will discuss the book (previously sent to them) against the background of their expert opinion and the questions asked by the event moderator.

The virtual launch will take place on Thursday, July 30, 9:00 AM Bogota / 10:00 NYC and will be in English.
