Colombia Prepares for Tense Presidential Inauguration with Protests Planned in all Major Cities


As Ivan Duque assumes the Colombian presidency from outgoing President Juan Manuel Santos, opposition protests are scheduled throughout the country. The “March for Life” aims to highlight the ongoing mass killings of social leaders and human rights activists that have been ignored by the incumbent president. Duque ran on a platform promising to revise the 2016 peace agreement between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) that ended over 50 years of conflict.
