COLOMBIA: UN Urges Congress To Approve Special Jurisdiction For Peace

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Colombia defended the creation of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) by the South American country's Congress as "fundamental for the effective fulfillment of international obligations in the field of human rights."

The Special Jurisdiction for Peace is the model of transitional justice agreed upon in the peace agreement between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) former guerrilla group.
