Hague Prosecutors Arrest First Kosovo War Crime Suspect


The Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office made its first arrest on Thursday, detaining former Kosovo Liberation Army officer Salih Mustafa in the Llap region of northeast Kosovo, the Hague-based prosecution announced.

“Salih Mustafa was arrested today in Kosovo by the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office on the basis of an arrest warrant, transfer order, and confirmed indictment, issued by a pre-trial judge of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers,” said Specialist Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Christopher Bennett. According to Bennett, Mustafa is being transferred to the Kosovo Specialist Chambers detention facility in The Hague. He is expected to appear before a pre-trial judge soon. Details of the charges against Mustafa have not yet been made public.
