South Sudan President, Rebel Leader Sign Ceasefire


After months of back and forth, South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar signed what they say is the final peace agreement to end the country’s five-year civil war, which has claimed the lives of tens of thousands and displaced millions. The Western powers overseeing the deal were cautiously optimistic, having previously expressed skepticism that Kiir and Machar could maintain peace.
