Taiwan Launches Transitional Justice Commission


Taiwan’s leadership recently launched a Transitional Justice Commission tasked with uncovering the history of political repression under the former Kuomintang regime. During the opening ceremony for the commission, President Tsai Ing-wen said that previous government’s failure to embark on a truth-seeking investigation and establish legal mechanisms for the rehabilitation of victims has made it difficult for the territory to enter the phase of dialogue and reconciliation.
