BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday has launched its new “Virtual Memories” app that allows users to access virtual memorials at locations of war crimes in Bosnia that have never been officially marked.
It includes narratives based on court-established facts, video testimonies of survivors and victims’ relatives, archival documents and photographs, as well as an interactive map of wartime crime sites.
BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina’s director Denis Dzidic said the app uses augmented reality through a mobile phone camera, enabling users to view virtual memorials in their real-life locations and testimonies linked to each location.
