Khulumani Support Group Begs Government to Honour Recommendations Made by TRC

Members of the Khulumani Support Group, a social movement in South Africa helping victims of apartheid become active citizens, called on the government to honor the recommendations made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in a protest outside the National Assembly in Cape Town.

The group hope promises made 23 years ago are finally fulfilled. They demand reparations including no less than R1 million to be paid to all victims and survivors of apartheid.

Shirley Gunn, the chairperson of the South African Coalition for Transitional Justice and a long-standing member of the Khulumani National Board, said “This is the first time that we have taken to Parliament to raise our placards and raise our concerns over this injustice.”
