Heba Awn

Program Assistant

Libya

Heba Awn is the Program Assistant for ICTJ’s Libya Program.  Before joining ICTJ, Heba was active in the human rights field in Libya and worked with CESVI as part of the GBV prevention and response, case management and accompanying awareness sessions team, as well as the psychosocial support (PSS) team.

Heba worked as a consultant with the organization LFJL conducting interviews and filling out surveys with survivors, vulnerable groups, and different stakeholders on survivors’ perception of the Libyan political dialogue and how it would affect their access to justice. In 2021, she worked on documenting cases of human rights violations and submitted these cases to the UN Special Procedures.

Finally, she volunteered from 2019 to 2021 with the organization Youth for Tawergha (YFT), an organization working on facilitating survivors and victims’ families’ access to justice, where she oversaw the development of the organization’s psychological support program for survivors and their families.
