In an oral update to members, Erik Møse, chair of the Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine, said it has documented new cases of torture committed by Russian authorities against civilians and prisoners of war in occupied areas of Ukraine and in the Russian Federation.  

Courts in Argentina and Venezuela issued warrants for the arrests of each other's presidents on Monday amid a showdown between the countries’ leaders, Argentina’s Javier Milei and Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro. 

Venezuela was first off the mark with its warrant for Argentina's Milei over what it called the "theft" of a Venezuelan plane seized in Buenos Aires for alleged sanctions violations. 

Norwegian police said on Wednesday they had arrested a man on suspicion of incitement to crimes against humanity in Cameroon, and they sought an Oslo court's permission to keep him in preventive custody while the investigation continues. 

Police said in a statement the man was in his 50s and was suspected of playing a key role in an ongoing armed conflict in the central African country.

To this end, ICTJ has recently led trainings for human rights activists in conflict-affected countries on open-source investigation tools to help them do their work more effectively.

On September 18, 2024, Judge Tomoko Akane, the President of the International Criminal Court (ICC), and Catherine De Bolle, the Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol), signed a memorandum of understanding on secure communication and a liaison agreement at Europol headquarters in The Hague.
