Iran Death Toll Reaches 555 as U.S., Israel Escalate Attacks

At least 555 people have been killed in US-Israeli strikes across Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent Society says, amid another wave of intensive attacks and Iranian counterstrikes on Israel and United States assets in the Middle East region. 
  
At least 35 people were killed on Monday morning in southern Iran’s Fars province, according to the Mehr news agency. The outlet also reported more than 20 people killed in an attack on Niloofar Square in Tehran. 
 

Pakistan Calls Troops, Orders 3-Day Curfew as 24 Killed in Pro-Iran Rallies

Pakistan has called in the military and imposed a three-day curfew in some areas following deadly protests over the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint United States-Israeli attack on Saturday.

At least 169 people were killed after insurgents raided a village in a remote area of South Sudan, a local official said on Monday. It’s the latest bout of sporadic violence that has left the country teetering on the verge of a full-blown civil war. 
  
The victims, including 90 civilians, were attacked on Sunday in Abiemnom County, said James Monyluak, information minister for the administrative area of Ruweng. 
  

U.S. Sanctions Rwanda’s Military and Top Officials over Support for M23 Rebels in Congo

The U.S. imposed sanctions Monday on the Rwandan Defense Forces and four of its senior officials for supporting the March 23 Movement, an armed group responsible for human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). 
  
The latest penalties come after a U.S.-mediated peace agreement was signed in December by Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Washington, alongside U.S. President Donald Trump. 
   

Gunmen Kill at Least 15 People in Northern Nigeria, Amnesty Says

At least 15 people have been killed after gunmen attacked three communities in north-central Nigeria, Amnesty International said Sunday. 
  
The simultaneous attacks occurred on Saturday in Tashan Maje, Saduro, and Runtuwa villages located in the Borgu area of Niger state, the rights group said in a statement posted on X. 
   
The “horrific attack” is yet another indication that “people are constantly living on the edge and feeling helpless,” the statement said.  
  

Iran’s Supreme Leader Killed in Major Attack by U.S. and Israel

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a major attack by Israel and the United States, Iranian state media confirmed early Sunday, throwing the future of the Islamic Republic into doubt and raising the risk of regional instability.

President Donald Trump announced the death hours earlier, saying it gave Iranians their “greatest chance” to “take back” their country.

State media reported that the 86-year-old was killed in an airstrike targeting his compound in downtown Tehran. Satellite photos from Airbus showed that the site was heavily bombed.

Israeli Attacks on Police Sites Kill Six in Southern, Central Gaza

At least six Palestinians have been killed in Israeli drone attacks targeting two police posts in the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip and the al-Mawasi area in Khan Younis in the south, as Israel presses on with its more than two-year genocidal war on the devastated enclave. 
  
The attacks overnight into Friday were condemned by Hamas as undermining mediator efforts during a “ceasefire” phase that Israel has violated almost daily since October 10.
