South Sudan Hospital Hit by Government Airstrike, Doctors Without Borders Says

Humanitarian group Doctors Without Borders said one of its hospitals in South Sudan was hit by an airstrike carried out by government forces. 
 
The incident, on Tuesday night, marks the 10th attack in 12 months on a medical facility in the country run by the group, which is also known as Médecins Sans Frontières, or MSF. 
 

Timor-Leste Opens Legal Proceedings against Myanmar’s Military Junta

Legal authorities in Timor-Leste have initiated legal proceedings against Myanmar’s military junta, including its leader, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, for war crimes and crimes against humanity. 
  
The move comes after the Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO) last month submitted a criminal file in Dili, accusing the junta of a litany of abuses, including rape, murder, and the indiscriminate attacks on civilian populations in Chin State. 
  

Russian Drone Attack on Bus in Ukraine Kills at Least 12

At least 12 people have been killed in a Russian drone attack on a bus carrying miners in Ukraine’s southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region, the country’s energy minister said. 
   
Police said the attack took place in the ‌city of Ternivka.  
  
Energy firm DTEK said in a statement that the killed and wounded were its employees returning from a shift.

Myanmar’s military-backed party secured a sweeping victory in the country’s three-phase general election, according to state media, following the tightly controlled voting held amid civil war and widespread repression. 
  
The final of three rounds of voting last weekend wrapped up an election that began on December 28, more than four years after the military seized power in a coup that overturned the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi. 
 

Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez Announces Prisoner Amnesty

Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodriguez has announced an amnesty bill that could lead to the release of hundreds of prisoners, her latest major reform since the U.S. military abducted the country’s President Nicolas Maduro and his wife earlier this month. 
  
“We have decided to push ahead with a general amnesty law that covers the whole period of political violence from 1999 to the present day,” Rodriguez said on Friday.
