Russian Missile and Drone Attacks Kill 4 in Ukraine as Zelenskyy Pleads for Air Defense

Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine overnight into Saturday killed at least four people and wounded 20, officials said, and prompted fresh pleas from Ukraine’s president for Western air defense systems. 
  
In the capital, Kyiv, two people were killed and 13 were wounded in a ballistic missile attack in the early hours of Saturday, Kyiv’s police said. 
  

Israeli Strikes in Southern Lebanon Kill Two in Latest Truce Violation

An Israeli drone strike has killed two people in southern Lebanon, according to the country’s Ministry of Public Health, a day after Israeli warplanes launched a series of deadly strikes on the country’s eastern mountain range and south. 
  
It’s the latest in near-daily Israeli violations of the United States-brokered ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah that began in November. 
 
The attack in the town of Toul in the Nabatieh district on Friday also injured two people, the ministry said.  

RSF Drones Target Sudan’s Khartoum in Fourth Day of Sustained Attacks

The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have targeted Sudan’s capital Khartoum and its main airport with drones for a fourth consecutive day, as the government-aligned Sudanese Armed Forces attempts to resume air traffic after regaining control of the city several months ago. 
  
Drones and surface-to-air missiles were heard above the capital in the early hours of Friday morning, residents told Al Jazeera, before loud explosions went off. 
  

British Ex-Soldier Acquitted of Murder in 1972 Bloody Sunday Massacre

A Belfast court on Thursday found a British soldier not guilty of murder in the only trial of a member of the British armed forces over the 1972 "Bloody Sunday" killings of 13 unarmed Catholic civil rights marchers in Northern Ireland. 
  
Judge Patrick Lynch ruled at Belfast Crown Court that prosecutors failed to prove that the veteran identified only as “Soldier F” had opened fire on unarmed civilians who were running to safety. 
  

Nigerian Army Kills Over 50 Boko Haram Militants as it Fights Off Drone Attacks

Nigeria’s military killed more than 50 Boko Haram militants in response to drone attacks on military bases in the country’s northeast, the army said Thursday. 
  
Army spokesperson Sani Uba said in a statement that militants launched simultaneous attacks on military bases in Borno and Yobe states early Thursday. It added that a combination of ground and air assaults enabled the military to defeat the militants who launched their attacks from northern Cameroon and Katarko, a village located in Yobe State.

Peru’s Interim President Declares State of Emergency After Weeks of Anti-Government Protests

Peru’s interim president, Jose Jeri, announced a state of emergency in Lima and the neighboring port of Callao on Tuesday after weeks of anti-government protests over corruption and organized crime. 
  
“The state of emergency approved by the council of ministers will take effect at midnight on Wednesday and will last for 30 days in metropolitan Lima and Callao,” Jeri said in an address to the nation on state television.
