Syrian Army Declares Ceasefire in Aleppo After Heavy Clashes With SDF

Syria’s Ministry of Defense has announced a ceasefire in three neighborhoods of the northern city of Aleppo after days of heavy clashes between the country’s military and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). 
  
A fierce exchange of fire extended into the night, with rescue workers scrambling to extinguish fires ignited by shelling, before the Defense Ministry said it would give armed groups a six-hour window on Friday to leave the contested areas. 
 

Israeli Assault on Palestinian University Wounds Dozens in West Bank Raid

Dozens of people were wounded after Israel’s army opened fire with live rounds, sound grenades, and tear gas at a prominent university in the occupied West Bank as students sat in classrooms and roamed the campus. 
  
Israeli soldiers smashed open the university’s gates as panicked students and staff watched in shock on Tuesday. 
 
Three of the injured were shot in the legs, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society. Five people suffered tear gas inhalation, and three were hit by flying shrapnel.

Deadly Battles Break Out Between Kurdish-Led Fighters and Syria Forces

Syrian government forces engaged in deadly clashes with Kurdish-led, U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Aleppo governorate, with at least four people killed in artillery fire and gun battles. 
  
Syria’s state-run SANA news agency said a soldier was killed and three injured in an attack by SDF fighters on Tuesday. 
 

Curfew Imposed in Southern Nepal Border City After Mosque Vandalism Sparks Protests

A curfew was imposed on a key border city in southern Nepal after Hindu and Muslim groups began protesting against each other following the vandalism of a mosque over the weekend, officials said Tuesday. 
  
The curfew orders issued by the Parsa District Administration said that no one will be allowed in the streets, and all gatherings and demonstrations are banned. 
  
The notice also warned that violators could be shot by security forces.

Members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), including key U.S. allies, have warned that the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife by U.S. special forces could be a precedent-setting event for international law. 
  
The 15-member bloc met for an emergency meeting on Monday in New York City, where the Venezuelan pair were also due to face drug trafficking charges in a U.S. federal court.
