Israel Threatens All Staying in Gaza City, Kills at Least 53 in Enclave

At least 53 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since dawn across Gaza as Israel threatened tens of thousands remaining in Gaza City with a forced order to leave, saying it was their “last opportunity” to flee or face the “full force” of Israel’s assault. 

Defense Minister Israel Katz wrote on X on Wednesday that anyone who stayed would be considered “terrorists and terror supporters”. 

UN Warns of Potential ‘Ethnically Driven’ Atrocities in Sudan’s el-Fasher

At least 91 people have been killed in Sudan’s besieged city of el-Fasher in attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over 10 days last month, the United Nations says.   

The attacks took place during intensified fighting between the RSF and Sudan’s army around the city, the largest urban center in the Darfur region that remains under the control of the military and its allies, known as the Joint Forces. 

South Korea President Apologizes for Abusive Foreign Adoption Scheme

South Korea’s president has apologized for a notorious foreign adoption scheme set up after the 1950-53 Korean War that caused “anxiety, pain, and confusion” to more than 14,000 children sent abroad. 

President Lee Jae-myung said in a Facebook post on Thursday that he was offering “heartfelt apology” to South Koreans adopted abroad and their adoptive and birth families, seven months after a Truth and Reconciliation Commission said the program violated the human rights of adoptees. 

Death Toll Rises to 3 in Morocco with More Protests Expected

At least three people have died in Morocco during protests against alleged corruption and decisions in public spending, as the country braces for a sixth night of demonstrations. 

Security forces opened fire on demonstrators on Wednesday, killing three people in Leqliaa, a small town outside the southern city of Agadir. 

Hundreds have been injured, and the Moroccan Association for Human Rights has said that 1,000 people have been apprehended amid the protests.

DR Congo’s Ex-President Joseph Kabila Sentenced to Death in Absentia

A military court in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has sentenced former President Joseph Kabila to death in absentia.

Lieutenant General Joseph Mutombo Katalayi, who presided over the military tribunal, said on Tuesday that Kabila was convicted of various crimes, including treason, crimes against humanity, murder, sexual assault, torture, and insurrection.

Kabila, who served as president from 2001 to 2019, had left the DRC in 2023, but recently visited Goma in the east of the country, an area controlled by the M23 rebel group.

Israeli PM Netanyahu Apologizes to Qatar over Doha Attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apologized to Qatar for the killing of a Qatari citizen during an unprecedented Israeli attack on Hamas leaders in Doha this month, which drew global condemnation.   

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani received the apology on Monday in a joint call from United States President Donald Trump and Netanyahu during their meeting at the White House.
