Trump Says U.S. Hit Another ‘Drug Vessel’, Venezuela Slams ‘Undeclared War’

United States President Donald Trump says American forces have carried out a third strike targeting a ship that he claimed was “trafficking illicit narcotics,” killing at least three men on board. 

The announcement, late on Friday, came as Venezuela accused the U.S. of waging an “undeclared war” in the Caribbean and called for a United Nations probe into the strikes. 

Haitian Gang Attacks Town, Kills Teacher, Kidnaps Residents and Burns Buildings

A Haitian gang attacked a small town northwest of Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince, killing, kidnapping, and burning down buildings as gang violence devours the Caribbean nation. 

Gunmen opened fire on the streets of Bassin Bleu around noon on Thursday, killing at least one high school teacher, according to the Catholic Church and local leaders.  

The surge of violence stirred panic in the community as gang members burned the police station, the town hall and a number of other buildings and looted a credit union. 

RSF Paramilitary Drone Strike Kills at least 75 People in War-Torn Sudan

Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed 75 people in a drone strike that hit a mosque at a camp for displaced people near the western city of El-Fasher on Friday, first responders said. 

The RSF conducted their strike as they make gains in their push to capture Darfur's last army-held city. 

The attack struck a mosque at the Abu Shouk camp, just outside the North Darfur capital, said the Emergency Response Room, a local volunteer group coordinating relief in the camp. 

Lebanon PM Salam Slams Israel after Fresh Attacks on Southern Lebanon

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has denounced Israel’s air strikes on three towns in the south of the country, as the latter again flouted its truce with Hezbollah. 

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported on Thursday that the Israeli army carried out several strikes on the densely populated towns of Meiss el-Jabal, Kfar Tebnit, and Debbin, which were carried out just one hour after announcing plans to target Hezbollah infrastructure. 

Colombian Court Ruling Sentences 12 Ex-Military Officers

A special Colombian court sentenced 12 former military officers to between five and eight years of reparation work for their involvement in 135 “false positive” deaths – killing civilians and then falsely reporting them as rebel fighters – between the years 2002 and 2005. 

Thursday’s landmark ruling is the first time the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), Colombia’s transitional justice body, issued individual sentences against government security forces for crimes committed in the decades-long war with FARC rebels that ended in 2016. 

Thai Forces Fire Rubber Bullets, Tear Gas in Clash with Cambodian Villagers

Dozens of Cambodian civilians were injured when Thailand’s military used tear gas and rubber bullets during clashes in a disputed area on the Thai-Cambodia border, the most significant violence since both countries halted cross-border fighting in July.   

Local media in Cambodia reported that 29 people, including local villagers and Buddhist monks, were hurt in the confrontation with Thai forces on Wednesday afternoon, while Thailand’s military said a number of its officials were also injured. 

Belarus Pardons 25 More Prisoners Under U.S. Pressure

Belarus has pardoned 25 prisoners as part of an ongoing drive to improve relations with the United States. 

President Alexander Lukashenko’s office announced the decision on Tuesday, less than a week after Minsk freed dozens of prisoners following an appeal by U.S. President Donald Trump to release hundreds said to have been prosecuted on politically motivated charges. 

At least some of those pardoned were political prisoners, according to the Viasna human rights group.
